Lipodissolve - Omaha, NE

All of our bodies contain a finite number of fat cells. For some people, fat cells are not deposited uniformly, resulting in those uneven fatty deposits that do not respond to diet and exercise. Lipodissolve is performed by our doctor for patients in our region to treat those localized fat deposits that can form under the eyes, chin, in lip lines, arms, love handles, buttocks and other areas. It's a safe, non-surgical approach to localized fat reduction that has been used throughout Europe and the United States for over 15 years.

What is Lipodissolve?

Lipodissolve is similar to Mesotherapy, but uses different chemicals that result in a faster response time and quicker fat loss. During the Lipodissolve procedure a formula of Phosphatidycholine (PC) and Sodium Deoxcycholate (DC) is injected into the unwanted fatty deposits. It causes the existing fat cells to dissolve and be flushed from your body over a period of weeks through the body's natural metabolic processes.

Who are the best candidates for Lipodissolve?

The best candidates for Lipodissolve require minor to medium sculpting of specific areas of localized fat. They should be over 18 years old.

How does Lipodissolve work?

The mixture of medications used in Lipodissolve melts the fat beneath the skin and shrinks the deeper fat cells. Once the fat has been dissolved, it is absorbed into the bloodstream where it is carried away and removed from the body. The same formula of medications is used to treat cellulite by destroying the connective tissues that cause the dimpling effect while dissolving the fat cells that are trapped. This can result in a smooth, dimple-free appearance.

The Lipodissolve procedure

Lipodissolve is performed to actually melt away unwanted localized deposits of fat from your body. During the procedure our physician uses a very tiny needle (about the size of an eyelash) to make multiple injections of the medications into the targeted area. When treating cellulite, one formulation of medications may be used to dissolve the fat and another to destroy the fibrous bands that bind the skin. In some cases, a special injection device may be used to deliver the injections.

Treatment averages about 1 - 4 sessions, spaced 6 - 8 weeks apart. Some patients prefer to use a local anesthetic cream applied thirty minutes prior to their treatment. Lipodissolve is custom-tailored for each individual. Unlike surgery, Lipodissolve is almost painless, has no downtime, no heavy bandages, girdles or anesthesia. Patients having Lipodissolve have no disruptions to their daily life.

What about side effects with Lipodissolve?

Side effects are limited because Lipodissolve is delivered directly to the target area. This reduces the possibility of drug interactions, and reduces the amount of medication required for each procedure. Since localized bruising is common, we suggest you discontinue blood thinners before your treatment. Following treatment some patients may experience some redness with mild swelling which can last a few days.

How does Lipodissolve compare to Liposuction?

With Liposuction, the fat is surgically suctioned out of your body. With Lipodissolve, the fat is dissolved non-surgically and is performed in a series of sessions with no downtime. Lipodissolve may be suggested to fine tune the results of liposuction.

How soon will I see results with Lipodissolve?

That depends on the area being treated. Some patients see results after one or two treatments, while others may require additional treatments before they are satisfied. Fat loss with Lipodissolve is a gradual process.

Patients can best maintain their results as long as they stay on a healthy diet and continue to exercise. Cellulite may require maintenance treatments every six months to a year.

Following Lipodissolve:

After our doctor performs Lipodissolve, there may be bruising. Some patients elect to use arnica cream and warm baths to relieve this. You should drink plenty of water during your course of Lipodissolve. Eight glasses a day will help flush out the breakdown products of the tissue. Aspirin, ibuprofen, or other anti-inflammatory or arthritis drugs should be avoided to reduce bruising. Lipodissolve is designed for fat sculpting, not weight reduction. For true weight reduction and management you should be on a good diet and exercise program.
